Bacon Wrapped Green Beans
I think every American can agree, Bacon and Green Beans are delicious. Lets put them together! Green beans are a great thanksgiving side dish and bacon is good no matter when you consume it. This recipe is simple and innovative, it uses very few ingredients.
What you will need:
- Fresh, rinsed green beans
- 1 package of hickory smoked bacon
- I can of water chestnuts
- Brown Sugar
- Olive Oil
- Salt/Pepper
- Toothpicks
What to do:
1) You will need a baking sheet or glass casserole pan. Drizzle olive oil on the surface.2) Cut the bacon strips in half. 3) Take about 6 green beans and two water chestnuts. Wrap two cut strips of bacon around the beans and chestnuts so they are bundled together by the bacon. Stick a toothpick through the center to keep it all together. Place as many bundles as you can fit onto the pan. 4) Sprinkle brown sugar, salt, and pepper over top the bundles. The more brown sugar, the sweeter the taste. 5) Turn oven to 375 degrees and bake the bundles for about 18-20 minutes. Finish off with a sprinkle of salt to taste. Bacon should be browned and crispy and beans should look soft and crinkled. You are all done!
Now you have an amazing side dish or appetizer. The crunch of the chestnuts compliment the smoke of the bacon and the sweetness of the green beans. Mmm…. The recipe serves 5+ Keep in mind the bundles go quickly because they shrink in the oven and become bite size. Make a lot! Prep and Cook time takes no longer than 26 minutes.
